I started teaching group fitness at 19. Pilates, kickboxing, body sculpt, water aerobics. You name it, I taught it. I got my personal training license in 2016. And in my 20s and 30s? Cardio and calorie cutting worked well enough. I looked fine without questioning the approach.
Then I had kids.
I started running half marathons with my son in a stroller. I was eating maybe 1,000 calories a day and running 11 miles. I had a training license on the wall and I was still doing the exact same thing I tell my clients NOT to do now. I was skinny fat. I had no muscle. I was exhausted and starving and nothing was changing.
Then one day during the pandemic, after too much wine and a house remodel, I looked in the mirror and thought: "I look like a sausage."
That was my real turning point. Not the certification. Not the classes I'd taught for years. It was the moment I finally threw out everything I thought I knew about fitness, picked up real weights, and learned how to actually fuel my body. I prepped for a bikini competition in 90 days.
And my body finally transformed, not because I got another credential, but because I stopped doing the wrong things.
Now I teach other women how to do the same. Without starving. Without living at the gym. Without giving up wine night with the girls.
